DEFINATION: Patanjali defined in 'Yoga Sutra' as- "to be seated in a position that is firm, but relaxed".
Patanjali mentions the ability to sit for extended period as one od the eight limbs of his system, known as Asthtang Yoga.
Asana are also performed as Physical exercise where they are sometimes referred to as "Yoga Postures" or Yoga Position{.

HERE WE ARE STUDING ABOUT VAJRASANA:
VAJRASANA(DIAMOND POSE/ THUNDERBOLT POSE):
Vajrasana is the simplest of all the asanas of Yoga, which can be practiced after lunch or dinner as well this is one of few exceptional asana as we supposed to do asana on an empty stomach. Vajrasana is also known as 'Diamond pose' which is best for practicing breathing exercises & meditation.
DURATION: 5 to 10 minutes.
HOW TO DO:
Vajra pose is a sitting asana in yoga. It is a kneeling position sitting on the heels.
- fold both the legs, keeping your hips on the heels. Toes pointing out behind you & big toes touching each other.
- Sit on the pit formed by the parted heels.
- Keep the head, neck & spine in a straight line. Palms facing up, placed on your thighs.
- Hold the pose & take long breaths.
- Breathe out relax. Straighten your legs.
BENIFITS:
- This asana enhance blood circulation in the lower abdomen & decrease circulation in the legs so it improve digestion process. that's why this asana suggest to do after lunch or dinner.
- it makes ankle joint flexible & prevents certain rheumatic disease
- In Vajrasana, the spine is erect without much effort.
- It strengthens the pelvic muscles, back.
- Person suffering from joint pain should avoid this asana.
- Slip disc condition
- Difficult in movement during asana should avoid.
- Pregent women should keep their knees slightly apart when they avoid putting pressure on their abdomen or avoid to do if not comfortable.
